Kayla Nicole Apologizes After Old Racist and Homophobic Tweets Resurface

The media personality deleted her X account and wrote on Instagram she’s ‘ashamed’ of past posts that resurfaced this week.

Kayla Nicole, podcaster, brand owner, model, and former WAG had to issue a public apology after old tweets resurfaced linking her to homophobic and racist language, a controversy that followed her after she deleted her X account. Reportedly, the posts date back as far as 2010, and they circulated earlier this week after folks dug through her timeline.

In an Instagram story posted on Nov. 13, Nicole wrote, “I want to take a moment to sincerely apologize for the hurtful tweets I posted so many years ago. Seeing them resurface last week has been incredibly difficult, and reading them now, I’m ashamed that I ever thought or spoke that way. They were ignorant, hurtful, and completely wrong.” She added that the woman she is today “would never use those words or express those kinds of views.”

Nicole said she deleted the tweets and her X account because she “refuse[s] to keep that energy alive or contribute to a cycle of hate,” and pledged to “continue showing through my actions who I’ve become and what I stand for today.”

The apology arrives amid heightened scrutiny of Nicole after a viral Halloween Toni Braxton costume and performance that many called out as shade to her ex-boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce and his fiancée, pop superstar Taylor Swift. Although Nicole claimed she wasn’t shading the couple. The “He Wasn’t Man Enough” drama drew extra attention from fans online, which led to Nicole’s old tweets catching fire.

Nicole recently told People, “Being a public figure is not an easy job. I've really had to lean on my mental health routine to really get me through some of the hardest times. And I can say wholeheartedly that starting to go to therapy, having mental health checkpoints that I learned through therapy, and creating my own fitness and wellness routine have really helped me get through some of the hardest times.”
