Nicki Minaj Compares The Pink Print to The Blueprint

"Pills N Potions" rapper says new album will be the female version of Jay Z's 2001 release.

Nicki Minaj hasn't finished recording The Pink Print, but she already has high hopes for how it will impact the rap game. During a phone interview with BBC 1Xtra's DJ Semtex, Nicki compared her album to Jay Z's classic 2001 release, The Blueprint

"I got enough time to really just focus and get a new perspective on who I was in relation to the industry, in relation to rap and all of that," she explained about taking a two-year hiatus between her new and previous album. "I am a lot more confident. … Of course I named it The Pink Print and of course Jay has had his Blueprint albums, and that’s what I feel like this album is gonna be. I really feel like this album will be a blueprint for female rappers to come, so that alone should tell you how confident I am about the music."

The Pink Print has so far produced one single, "Pill N Potions," produced by Dr. Luke and co-written by Nicki, Ester Dean and Cirkut. More new music will be coming out "in the next couple of weeks" that will "blow people's minds," Minaj assured. "I took my time with the album. I've never felt better to be honest,” she said.

Minaj also talked about her relationship with Lil Wayne, recording "Chi-Raq" with Chicago native Lil Herb and Game's verse on Tyga's "ChiRaq to LA" remix. The Young Money rapper loved his delivery. "The Game bodied it, he kinda surprised me," she said. "That was one of the most lyrical Game verses I heard in years. I didn't really expect him to go that crazy on it. That was one that really stood out to me, he was mad. Somebody made him mad or something."

Although she didn't mention a Game collaboration, the two have already shown that they have good chemistry in Minaj's "Pills N Potions" video. During an interview last week, Game expressed interest in getting Nicki on his upcoming album, The Documentary 2.
