Malik Beasley Reportedly Settles Multiple Debts Amidst Legal Woes

The former Detroit Pistons guard owed a barbershop and a dentist more than $60,000.

This offseason is not going Malik Beasley’s way.

The former Detroit Pistons guard is currently the subject of a federal investigation for gambling when he played for the Milwaukee Bucks. The timing couldn’t have been worse as Beasley was negotiating with the Pistons to finalize a three-year, $42 million contract, according to ESPN's Shams Charania, after a one-year, $6 million deal with the team. But Beasley's financial struggles have now come to light as he paid a barbershop and a dentist more than $60,000 on July 2 after both businesses filed lawsuits against him for not repaying loans.

According to court records, Beasley paid Rekar Jaff of Cairo Cuts, a Milwaukee area barbershop, $26,826.76. Hassan Alshehabi, a dentist at Delicate Smiles LLC on Silver Spring Drive, received $34,389.70. To settle the debts, the Pistons Beasley's wages were garnished by the Pistons to help pay back some of the debts.

Records also show that Beasley was lent money from both businesses in 2024. Cairo Cuts lent Beasley $15,000 on March 23, 2024. Also, on April 2, Cairo Cuts lent Beasley $1,000, and on April 3 lent him another $4,000.

On April 11, Beasley provided  Delicate Smiles with a "loan agreement and promissory note" of $30,000 in exchange for a $20,000 advance.

On April 30, Cairo Cuts lent Beasley another $1,000 and lent Beasley $9,000 the following day. Beasley gave the company another loan agreement and promissory note for $30,000.

Delicate Smiles lent Beasley $1,000 on May 3, followed by $2,000 on May 8 and $3,000 on May 12.

This is not the end of Beasley’s legal troubles. Beasley was sued in June by Paperclip Properties, a Detroit property manager, for non-payment of rent, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Beasley's former agency, Hazan Sports Management Group, sued him in April for breach of contract, claiming he never paid back a $650,000 advance, but sent "little more than drips and drabs of sporadic payments and vague promises to repay the balance over time."

In 2021, Beasley was suspended for 12 games by the league for felony gun charges. He ultimately served 78 days in prison.
