New Boyz to Drop New Album on May 10

Ben J and Legacy prep the release of their sophomore joint.

On May 10, Ben J and Legacy, the Cali rap duo known as the New Boyz, will return to the rap game with their sophomore album, Too Cool To Care. The Warner Bros. recording artists, who are currently in the midst of promoting their new single,"Backseat," just recently performed at BET's Rip The Runway, getting fans ready for what the energetic duo has in store.

"Music-wise, we got songs: we got rock songs with singing, pop tracks. And then we got hip hop tracks, R&B tracks, love tracks. It’s just a wide variety of music. We like to try different things,” Legacy told BET.com in an exclusive interview. “We definitely make tracks for people to dance to, but we’re not dancers. We wanted to make sure on this new album, we show ourselves as artists and what the New Boyz is really about.”

With the release of their 2009 debut album Skinny Jeanz & A Mic, the New Boyz received criticism from hip hop purists for popularizing the Cali dance craze "Jerkin'" and rocking skinny jeans. In a statement released to the press, Legacy responded to the past hate. "Too Cool To Care is not just an album, it’s a movement.  It’s about how we’ve always gotten criticism from those who want to hate our fashion and style.”
