T-Boz Criticizes Black Twitter: You Don't See Other Races Dogging Each Other

Earlier in the week, TLC caught backlash over the delay of their upcoming album. The duo launched a Kickstarter campaign in January that brought in over $430,000.

An angry fan asked T-Boz for a refund since the album isn't out yet. She replied, “Call Kickstarter and tell em yo give it bk.”

Her tweet kicked off the #TLCisGoingToJailParty on Twitter.

T-Boz further explained the misunderstanding, and her reaction to the social media firestorm, on the Rickey Smiley Morning Show. “We’ve sent emails to [everybody who donated] and then on top of that we’ve done a press release,” she said referencing an update sent to fans last month. “I refuse to address ignorance because there’s a lot of followers out there. They hear one comment, jump on the bandwagon and then fail to do their research.

“That’s the problem I find disappointing especially with our people,” she continued. “It’s mostly our people doing it, you don’t ever see other races on the Internet dogging people out the way Black people do each other. It’s embarrassing and it’s unfortunate to me.”

She went off on the media and Twitter trolls for blowing up the story. “People who report the news, it’s just not the way it used to be.” she explained. “They just rather report the trash. They know we did the press release but they don’t want to report that part. They just want to report the bad and then it becomes this other thing, and then it just keeps going because social media has given a lot of people a voice who probably shouldn’t have one.”
