NFL Inspire Change Renews Grants For Social Justice Organizations

10 nonprofit organizations that are committed to underserved communities received the grants.

As part of the NFL's Inspire Change initiative, the league announced grant renewals for 10 nonprofit partners who are committed to communities across the country. 

The grants are given to organizations that are “creating measurable change and reducing barriers to opportunity across the four pillars of Inspire Change: education, economic advancement, police-community relations, and criminal justice reform.”

In total, the grants amounted to nearly $2.5 million in funding. The 10 organizations that are awarded grants are approved by the Player-Owner Social Justice Committee, a 12-member panel comprising current players, retired legends, and team owners.

Recipients of the awards include the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), Get Schooled, Operation HOPE, A New Way of Life, Free Minds Book Club & Writing Workshop, ​​​Impact Justice, Neighborhood Defender Services, The Vera Institute of Justice (Vera), Chicago’s Crisis Assistance Response and Engagement (CARE) Program, and Metropolitan Family Services.

Black NFL Team Presidents to Be Honored At ‘A Toast To Black Sports’ Pre-Super Bowl Event

Anna Isaacson, NFL Senior Vice President of Social Responsibility, released a statement.

"The NFL is honored to support this group of impactful organizations through our Inspire Change initiative," Isaacson said. "Driving meaningful social progress takes long-term commitment, and we remain dedicated to using the full reach of the NFL family to help create lasting impact in communities across the country."

"The Player's Coalition is committed to using our voices and influence to support the people and organizations doing the hard work on the ground," added Kelvin Beachum, offensive tackle for the Arizona Cardinals and Players Coalition Task Force Member. "Through Inspire Change, we're helping to direct resources where they're needed most and backing community leaders who are creating real impact in their communities."

Launched in 2019, NFL Inspire involves a partnership with JAY-Z's Roc Nation to promote social justice and economic empowerment through various programs.” This partnership seeks to amplify voices and address injustices faced by underserved communities, particularly within the Black community. Additionally, Roc Nation assists with advocacy work and gives oversight of the Super Bowl halftime show.
