Lenny Kravitz Shares His Gorgeous Paris Mansion
Lenny Kravitz wholeheartedly flexed on us by showcasing his Parisian mansion with help from Architectural Digest this week.
In a new story and accompanying house tour video posted on Tuesday, April 15, the rock musician recalled that he first visited Paris in 1989 and fell in love with the City of Lights. Then, Kravitz, 60, decided to find “a little apartment.” His real estate agent urged him to check out a “grand mansion” that formerly belonged to French politician Countess Anne d’Ornano. Upon visiting the “once in a generation’ residence,” Kravitz knew it would be his.
“I walked in and said, ‘This is my house.’ Spiritually, I knew,” he recalled.
While Kravitz owns multiple homes in Brazil, Miami, the Bahamas, and more, his Parisian mansion could double as an art museum. In addition to classic decor, Kravitz owns art pieces crafted by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Richard Avedon, and others. In all, Kravitz describes the feel of his Paris home as “‘soulful elegance.’”
“‘Soulful elegance’ means it’s designed, curated, balanced, not too minimal, not too maximalist,” he said.. “It’s comfortable, clearly. But also chic. It’s got a lot of ethnic and African elements mixed with European, because I love that balance of African, European, and Afrofuturism mixed with midcentury pieces. I love things that are extremely glamorous and also extremely brutal.”
Aside from the mansion’s upscale look, Kravitz also has a basement nightclub and a library dedicated to his late mother, Roxie Roker. In 2003, the four-time Grammy winner founded Kravitz Design Studio, an AD100 firm that specializes in interior spaces, branding, and creative partnerships.
