This week’s episode of The Ms. Pat Show wastes no time diving into drama.

Janelle returns home unexpectedly after last week’s mess with her professor. She tells Junebug she’s not going back to school and has already enrolled in community college classes instead. He promises to keep her secret, but we all know Pat and Terry are not going to take this lightly when they find out.

Meanwhile, Denise is walking around on cloud nine. After catching Pat and Kareem hugging in the kitchen — and hearing Kareem say their conversation was “a secret” — she convinces herself he’s planning to propose. Her excitement spirals quickly, and she starts telling the other kids in the family that an engagement is coming.

Then comes the real curveball.

Terry’s aunt Yolanda, whom he visited at the retirement home last week while searching for answers about his father, shows up at the house — with luggage. She’s meeting Terry’s family for the first time. Not long after, Ms. Carol (also from the retirement home) arrives, also carrying bags. Pat is immediately irritated, sensing the house is about to get even more chaotic.

And she’s right.

Yolanda eventually reveals the truth: she isn’t Terry’s father’s sister — she is his father. Record scratch. Yolanda had been searching for Terry as well and hoped to reconnect before her transition, but life didn’t unfold that way. Carol is there for moral support and safety, just in case tensions flare once the family learns Yolanda is trans. The episode wisely gives Terry and Yolanda space for a private, emotional conversation. There’s a lot to unpack — and even more healing ahead.

Elsewhere, Kareem takes Denise out for what she assumes is a proposal dinner. Instead, he tells her he’s celebrating her 10 years of sobriety and expresses how proud he is of her. Denise’s excitement quickly turns into disappointment.

Then things escalate.

SWV suddenly appears, ready to perform some of Denise’s favorite songs at Kareem’s request. Rather than swoon, Denise spirals. She accuses Kareem of cheating with one of the group members and storms out. The night only gets worse when they return home to discover the surprise party Kareem planned with her family. Denise throws a tantrum and retreats to her room.

Pat steps in for some tough love. Denise admits she feels embarrassed and let down that it wasn’t a proposal. Pat gently but firmly reminds her that Kareem went above and beyond to celebrate her milestone — and that her negativity may be self-sabotage. Eventually, Denise apologizes.

That’s when Kareem reveals what Denise never let him finish at dinner: he was planning to propose. SWV comes back in, and this time, the moment lands. Wedding bells are officially on the horizon.

But before we start picking out bridesmaid dresses, there may be another life-changing development.

Janelle has been nauseous and throwing up. She doesn’t know for sure, but pregnancy is a real possibility. Junebug comforts her as the episode closes, leaving viewers wondering what kind of storm is brewing next.
