Chicago Gun Violence: 1 Killed, 17 Wounded This Past Weekend
Gun violence in Chicago this past weekend ended in one person being killed and 17 wounded, according to the Chicago Sun Times. Killings in the past three weekends have brought the homicide total in the city this year to 300. This number is down 21 percent compared to 2012.
Adrian Sianez, a 24-year-old, was fatally shot Sunday morning on the South Side of Chicago in an incident police believe is gang-related. A gunman got out of an SUV and began shooting at Sianez. Bullets struck him multiple times in the back and once in the buttocks. He was pronounced dead at the hospital later Sunday morning.
One man was shot multiple times and wounded along a Chicago Public Schools Safe Passage route on the West Side, according to CBS Chicago. A 25-year-old man, 27-year-old woman and 19-year-old woman were also reportedly shot in Chicago's South Side on Sunday.
A man believed to be in his 20s was found beaten to death Saturday in Washington Park, a South Side neighborhood. Police originally reported that he was shot in the head.
