North West Had A Surprise Cameo In Kanye West’s ‘Wash Us In Blood’ Music Video

Did you catch her last-minute appearance?

Yesterday, Kanye West debuted a music video for his latest single, “Wash Us In Blood,” ahead of the release of his forthcoming album, God’s Country, to the surprise of his fans.

  • Ye unveiled the song on Twitter earlier this week. The gospel/rap track was mixed by Dr. Dre and also features Travis Scott. While fans are talking about the song, the real buzz is about Kanye’s 7-year-old daughter, North West, who made a surprise appearance towards the end of the visual.

Directed by Arthur Jafar, the three minute and 41 seconds long video opens with footage of Black protestors confronting a group of police officers.

“Wash us in the blood / Wash us in the blood / Whole life being thugs / No choice selling drugs / South Side what it does," West raps in the opening bars as a white police officer pushes Black protesters.
The video then transitions to a CGI’d Kanye interspersed with footage of recent Black Lives Matter protests, Black protesters in hospital beds, and the moment leading up to Ahmaud Arbery’s death among other imagery used.

  • Travis Scott, who by a few degrees of separation is kind of related by marriage to Kanye since he is the father of North’s cousin, Stormi Webster, makes an appearance briefly flashing on the screen smoking a cigar before transitioning to footage of one of Ye’s Sunday Services.

“Let it off, set it off / Execution, thirty states / Thirty states still execute / Thou shall not kill, I shall not spill, Nextels at the rendezvous / We dodgin' time in the federal / Squad box you in like a sectional / We walk through the glass and the residue,” Scott raps before Kanye swoops back in for the chorus.

  • The video fades out and right before the end is a behind-the-scenes moment of North adorably dancing and bopping along as her father calls upon the Holy Spirit to come down at what appears to be a practice session for his Sunday Service gospel choir.

“Wash Us In Blood” is expected to appear on God’s Country. A release date for the album has yet to be announced.
