Damson Idris Cast as Miles Davis in ‘Miles & Juliette’

Set in post-war Paris, the new film follows a young Davis and his relationship with singer-actress Juliette Gréco.

Damson Idris is stepping into the legendary shoes of Miles Davis in a new period romance, “Miles & Juliette.” 

Idris will star opposite Anamaria Vartolomei, who takes on the role of French singer, actress, and Left Bank icon Juliette Gréco, per Hollywood Reporter.

According to the official synopsis, “Miles & Juliette” follows “22-year-old Miles Davis (Idris) on a transformative trip to Paris in 1949, where he falls into a passionate romance with Juliette Gréco (Vartolomei)... What begins as an intimate affair blossoms into a profound connection between two young artists, just before they became cultural legends.”

Directed by Bill Pohlad, the film is based on a script by Zora Howard. Mick Jagger is producing through his Jagged Films banner alongside Victoria Pearman, Pohlad, and Kim Roth. Actor-director Xavier Dolan is also set to appear in the project.

The film will be presented at the Cannes Film Market by Goodfellas, with CAA Media Finance handling North American sales.

The announcement comes as Idris gears up to appear alongside Brad Pitt in the upcoming Formula 1 film “F1.” He’s also in production on “Children of Blood and Bone,” a fantasy epic from Paramount.
