[Watch] #WalkingWhileBlack: How One Man’s Morning Coffee Run Resulted in Arrest

Charles Harrel captured video of the Cincinnati cop who followed him on his morning stroll just before Officer Baron Osterman roughed him up and tossed him in jail.

Charles Harrel wanted the world to know who his stalker was during a recent morning walk to get coffee: a Cincinnati police officer.

“You can’t be a Black man and enjoy your morning because the police are going to harass you,” the 29-year-old said into the camera. “Walking down the street; the cop just asked me if I have a problem.”

Little did Harrel know it was just the beginning of his problems with Officer Baron Osterman that morning.

“Sir, you were scaring me, sir,” Harrel could be heard saying. “I don’t know why you were following me, anyway. You were following me all the way down the street.”

After the officer accused him of jaywalking and Harrel disagreed, he was thrown against a wall, handcuffed, searched and arrested. “He’s violating my Constitutional rights,” Harel could be heard yelling as his camera continues recording and the police officer cuffs him.

Harrel, who confessed to previously serving 14 years in state prison on the video, was charged with pedestrian violation, possession of less than 100 grams (3.5 ounces) of marijuana and resisting arrest, according to the Free Thought Project.
