Barack and Michelle Obama Say Their New Presidential Center Is the Perfect Date Spot and Things Got a Little Flirty
Barack and Michelle Obama are recommending their own museum for date night and they made the case in a video that had fans blushing.
When asked about the newly opened Obama Presidential Center in Chicago, Michelle didn't hesitate. "Oh, this would've been the date," she said as Barack laughed beside her. "I mean, this would've been like 'Oh, this dude is cool.'" She described the 19.3-acre campus bluntly: "This is a sexy environment, I'm sorry. I mean, this is a date vibe."
Michelle then laid out the full date plan, pointing to the textile installation by Nick Cave and Marie Watt and artwork by Mark Bradford, then recommending a stop at Tafari's Kitchen, named for former White House chef Tafari Campbell, for "a beautiful meal" in an elegant space. From there, she suggested the "comfy sofas," where a couple could sit close and "talk about life." As she spoke, Barack pulled her closer and added, "A tip for all the young men out there!"
She also called sitting outside on the grass "nothing more romantic," prompting Barack to ask, "Take a blanket?" Michelle's reply, "Points!"
Michelle shared the video to Instagram, tagging Barack and the Obama Foundation, with a caption tying it to their own history: "Barack and I went to a museum on our first date. So take it from us: the Obama Presidential Center campus has just the right vibe for you and your boo."
The center opened to the public on June 19 on Chicago's South Side, featuring a museum on the Obamas' presidency, a library, a basketball court, public green space, and dining. It's billed as a "global hub" meant to "inspire, empower, and connect people to create change."
Fans ate it up. One wrote, "The ultimate flex of a first date at a museum then 40 years later him building one! lol" Another joked, "The Obamas are bringing back dating without opening a dating site. One where you experience love in the open while the butterflies roar in your belly. That's how we roll; this was what dating looked like in my days; I'm just 40 by the way."
