Prayers Up: Lil Kim’s Father, Linwood Jones, Has Passed Away

Trina came through for Kim in this major way.

Our hearts go out to the Queen Bee, Lil’ Kim.

The rap icon is mourning the death of her father, Linwood Jones, who recently passed. A cause of death was not stated, but Kim confirmed the news herself via Instagram on Thursday (Oct. 31).

  • Although Kim didn’t have the closest relationship with her father growing up, his passing hit Kim hard nonetheless, she revealed. Kim reunited with him after learning that he was battling Alzheimer’s Disease in 2012, according to Ok! Magazine.

  • Following his passing, the rap icon opened up about her father’s death for the first time. Although she was devastated, the “Found You” rapper shared that the loss of her father helped her heal her friendship with Trina. Kim shared that Trina was a shoulder for Kim to lean on while she was coping with the loss of her father.

  • In September, Trina also suffered the loss of a parent when her mother passed following a long battle with cancer. The reconciliation is a record moment after Kim and Trina become estranged a few years ago, which hurt Trina at the time.

  • “On this very day I found out my Daddy passed away. I was so distraught and had to put on a brave face and keep working because I had a show that same night,” Kim wrote in the post’s caption alongside photos of her Trina and NFL star Bryant McKinnie.

  • “When [Trina] came into my dressing room, we instantly bonded. She comforted me and it was exactly what I needed [at] that moment. It’s as if her Mom and my Dad brought us together and healed our friendship. We both have angels watching over us.”

  • The Shade Room also posted a video of Trina and Kim hugging backstage.

While Lil Kim and Trina’s loss have dealt tragic blows, we’re glad to see these two queens have patched things and were able to be there for one another during a difficult time.

Our prayers and love are with the Jones family at this difficult time.
