CHIKA Collaborates With Freddie Gibbs on New Single
In her latest release, the artist talks about phonies, the fast life, and fame.
Grammy-nominated “Best New Artist,” CHIKA is ready to tell her truth in her latest song, also featuring Grammy-nominated rapper Freddie Gibbs.
The 26-year-old singer-songwriter first gained attention on the internet, uploading her freestyles to Instagram in the early 2010s, getting the likes of big names like Snoop Dogg, P. Diddy, and even former President Barack Obama.
The Alabama-born artist released her Industry Games EP in 2020, which earned her a spot in Grammy nominations for “Best New Artist”. Her thought-driven, inspirational second EP released in 2021, Once Upon a Time, laid the groundwork for her upcoming debut album Samson, featuring icons such as Stevie Wonder and appearances by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Snoop Dogg, which drops July 28th.
Now, one of her album tracks, “Truth or Dare,” is releasing in collaboration with Gibbs as a lyrical lay-down, spitting her truth about her experience in the music industry. This bold and brilliant song showcases CHIKA’s true songwriting ability, complemented by the flow and passion of Gibbs’ rhymes.
Released just a few weeks ago, her other featured single, “Requiem for a Dream,” paired with this new track, perfectly represents CHIKA as an upcoming lyrical talent.
