Dave Chappelle Endorses Andrew Yang For President And Sets The Internet Ablaze

“I’m Yang Gang.”

Dave Chappelle’s endorsement for the 2020 presidency is in.

According to a statement from Andrew Yang’s campaign, the comedian and actor is endorsing the tech entrepreneur for the nation’s highest office.

“I’m Yang Gang,” Chappelle said via the statement.

"Dave is one of the most important voices in our country today and I'm thrilled he has thrown his support behind this campaign," Yang said in the wake of the news. "He and I share similar concerns about the future and hopes for what it could be. We are also parents who see the world that we are leaving to our kids and believe they deserve better."

Chappelle is set to perform two shows in South Carolina, one of the first three primary and caucus states, later this month to benefit Yang’s campaign.

On Twitter, Yang shared a photo of him and Chappelle with the caption, “Thank you @DaveChappelle and welcome to the #yanggang. You are the best. Let's do this for our kids."

  • Twitter, of course, went wild with the endorsement news.

  • According to the Morning Consult, the latest polling numbers place Andrew Yang in 6th place overall among Democratic primary voters. He did not qualify for Tuesday night’s (January 14) Democratic presidential debate, which comes less than a month before the Iowa caucuses.
