Halle Berry Says She’s ‘Very Happy with Life Right Now’ and Marriage Can Wait

The Oscar winner told ‘Today’ she and Van Hunt don’t need a wedding to validate their love, even after a proposal was reportedly made.

Halle Berry is living her best, booed-up life!

The 59-year-old actress is in a place of stability and gratitude, but she’s not in a rush to remarry. A source told People that “Halle’s doing great. She’s very happy with life right now,” and added that the Oscar winner is grateful for her relationship with musician Van Hunt, who the source said “really gets her and treats her so well.”

Berry has been candid about marriage before. On “Today,” she reflected that she’s been married three times and said that while she and Hunt have discussed marriage, “We don’t feel like we have to get married to validate our love in any way.” She added, “I think we will get married just because… we would like to do just because we want that expression.” That nuance — affection without urgency — appears to be how Berry is approaching this season of life.

The source also noted a realignment in Berry’s personal priorities: with daughter Nahla heading to college this fall and son Maceo getting older, Berry is reportedly embracing motherhood in new ways, work, and wellness. She’s starring in “Crime 101” and developing projects through her production company while staying engaged with her wellness brand. “She very much enjoys it all,” the source said.

Hunt publicly revealed a proposal in June 2025, though reports say the couple put plans on hold. According to People, the two are content and are taking things at their own pace rather than rushing toward a ceremony. For Berry, who’s said in the past she values both independence and deep love, that approach fits. She is secure where she is, grateful for what she has, and open to whatever comes next.
