Jade Cargill Makes History As The New WWE 'Queen of the Ring'

Cargill became the first Black woman to win the crown after defeating Asuka in the finals at "Night of Champions" in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Jade Cargill walked into Riyadh on Saturday night (June 28) with something to prove. She walked out with a crown, a legacy moment, and her name etched into wrestling royalty.

On a global stage at WWE’s Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia, the storm that is Jade Cargill thundered through the Queen of the Ring tournament, defeating the legendary Asuka in a matchup that was both history-making and hard-hitting.

With the victory, Cargill becomes the first Black woman to win the Queen of the Ring tournament, cementing her status among the likes of King Booker, King Woods, and Mabel Viscera in the royal lineage of Black wrestling greatness.

For Cargill, this isn’t just a win; it’s a coronation.

Asuka, who returned from nearly a two-year injury hiatus, came with all the unpredictability, experience, and intensity that makes her one of the most decorated women in women’s wrestling history. But Cargill didn’t flinch. She stood tall, chin high, laced in gold and white, dripped in confidence, and matched Asuka’s strikes, submissions, and mind games move for move.

In only a few years in the game, Jade’s name has already commanded attention. This moment made it loud and clear: she’s not just a pretty face, and here for the spotlight, she is the spotlight. Against a future Hall of Famer, Cargill showed growth and grace under pressure. She didn’t just survive; she conquered.

When the final bell rang and the crown was placed on Jade’s head like it always belonged there.

Following her victory, she spoke with Byron Saxton and delivered a statement that left a lasting impact.

“When I first entered this tournament, it felt like the world was on my shoulders,” Cargill said. “But you know what? For the people out there, who are doubting themselves, praise yourself… Don’t let them tell you who you are. You show them.

“The grind don’t stop. A storm is coming for SummerSlam,”  she added.

We rarely see a superstar reach this type of milestone this early in their WWE tenure. But then again, nothing about Jade Cargill is ordinary. From her entrance to her dominance, her presence is undeniable. WWE didn’t just crown a queen but cultural shift was ushered in rooted in Black excellence and unapologetic swagger.

This is a testament to Jade’s journey, from her undefeated streaks at AEW to her bold persona; every step led her to this throne, and she won’t hesitate to sit on it as if she owns it.

Jade Cargill is the Queen of the Ring, and the culture just got its crown back.
