More Singers Have Come Out The Woodwork To Join The "King Of R&B" Debate

The shade is relentless.

Cash Money crooner Jacquees broke the internet when his declaration that he is “this generation’s King of R&B” spread through social media like the plague. Hit makers like Tyrese, Tank, J. Holiday, Pleasure P, John Legend all weighed in with their opinions on who they feel is better suited for the throne, regardless of generational gaps.

The internet is still at odds over who the “true” king is and is doesn’t seem like there’ll ever be a definitive end to the age-old debate. Since the viral explosion yesterday (Dec. 11), more soulful phenoms like Trey Songz, Omarion, Bobby Valentino and Jeremih have stepped forward to place on their bets on who can take the crown, but some had more to say than others.

  • “Slow Down” singer Bobby V threw some shade at his R&B brethren

“‘The King of R&B’… ah man, I love this,” he began. “This is the first time R&B guys are actually getting together cause we don’t do nothing together. We all just like separate like R&B is just the most poppin’ genre of music.”Bobby, then declared, “it’s actually at the bottom of the barrel right now.”

His choice to claim the crown? The “Anonymous” crooner made sure to set the record straight. “First of all, the kings of R&B, plural, they’re both dead. After that, you got R. Kelly, Usher, then a couple other guys at [holding the third and fourth spot], then it’s up for discussion.”

  • What’s Bobby’s solution to this dispute? Put a tour together

“Everybody gon bring out a different crowd and let’s see who got the best vocals every night. Let’s see who bring it every night and we let the people decide. It’s real simple.”

  • After being kicked off his own tour, Jeremih posted up next to the Pied Piper

  • Omarion has a classic response that we all can agree on…

  • Trey Songz is in awe that the debate is still taking over social media

  • Meanwhile, Al b Sure! and Keith Sweat have given themselves alternate titles

  • YET, the internet still has a few contenders of its own
