Shawty Lo's Cause of Death Revealed

Looks like he was under the influence at the time.

Last month, on September 21, tragedy struck the hip-hop community when the news broke that Atlanta rapper Shawty Lo had passed away in a fatal car accident. At the time of his death, he was 40 years old and left behind 11 children.

Now, just under a month following the sad news, the Fulton County Medical Examiner has today (October 17) revealed some new details surrounding his death, and it appears as though there's a possibility that some foul play was involved, not too different from what the investigation surrounding Prince's death is now focusing on.

As reported by TMZ, the medical examiner found a prescription bottle on Shawty Lo that was labeled Promethazine, which was instead filled with Percocet and Vicodin, and that the rapper's body reeked of alcohol.

Additionally, according to the report, Shawty suffered the blunt force injuries to his head when he was ejected from his car during the crash, which ultimately caused his death. However, at this time, the official toxicology reports are not in yet.

On top of that, the medical examiner also allegedly says that two females were in the car with the rapper at the time of the accident. The report then shares that the two women asked the responding officers if they could empty out Shawty's pockets. According to the report, the cops allegedly didn't stop them and after it was all said and done, there was only around $16 remaining in the vehicle.

More on this story as it develops.
