With the Grammys on the horizon, music is being remixed in a new documentary called Re:Generation.

The film takes five top music makers and matches them up with other artists using techniques that may seem unconventional.

For example, DJ Premier teams up with Nas to create a track using the Berkley School of Music Orchestra.

Erykah Badu, Trombone Shorty and members of The Dap-Kings collaborate with Mark Ronson to create a jazz ensemble while electronic dance producers The Crystal Method help Motown icon Martha Reeves with a rhythm and blues song.

Although the film will not hit screens until early next year, a live stream event will take place on the Internet on Dec. 7 showing the opening ten minutes. Shots from the project can be seen here.
