Mike McQueary Said He Stopped Sexual Assault

In email to a friend, Mike McQueary said he stopped former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky from sexually molesting a 10-year-old boy in 2002 when he was a graduate assistant.

It turns out that when  Mike McQueary was a graduate assistant in 2002 he did do something to stop former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky from sexually molesting a 10-year-old in a football locker-room shower in that same year—at least according to McQueary.

The problem is McQueary somehow forgot to discuss that very big fact with the grand jury that indicted Sandusky. He says he did tell head coach Joe Paterno what he saw the next day but never reported Sandusky to the police. The question is, did he physically remove the boy who was allegedly being raped by Sandusky or just report the incident to Paterno.

A source familiar with the investigation has said that McQueary did indeed stop the act. There aren’t any details on how he stopped Sandusky.

There are some new and interesting facts emerging, however, about McQueary’s actions. The Morning Call of Allentown, Pennyslvania, obtained an email in which McQueary said he did have discussions with police and with an official at the university following the alleged incident.

However, the police say they did not receive a report from McQueary related to an allegation of child sexual abuse against Sandusky.

In the email, dated Nov. 8, McQueary stated:

... you are the first person I have told this ... and I don't know you extremely well ... and I have been told bye [sic] officials to not say anything ...

I did stop it, not physically ... but made sure it was stopped when I left that locker room ... I did have discussions with police and with the official at the university in charge of police.... no one can imagine my thoughts or wants to be in my shoes for those 30-45 seconds ... trust me.

Do with this what you want ... but I am getting hammered for handling this the right way ... or what I thought at the time was right ... I had to make tough impacting quick decisions.

This is off record ... again ... I have not and will not say anything to anyone else.

McQueary, who has had threats made against his life since this whole ordeal became public nearly two weeks ago, has been on paid administrative leave as the wide recievers coach since last Friday. Paterno was fired last week from the head coaching position he had held since 1966.

Sandusky has been arrested and indicted on 40 counts of child molestation for allegedly raping eight boys during a 15-year period. That number is believe to become higher as more allegations come to light.
