LOL: Allow Us To Explain That Video Of Lil Kim Snatching This Rapper's Hands Off Of Her

Boy, bye!

Brooklyn-bred femcee icon Lil Kim’s genre-wide impact has afforded her an illustrious hip-hop legacy, preeminent worldwide stardom, Grammy recognition and, now, a proclamation to her New York City stomping grounds from the NYC Council’s Black, Latino, and Asian Caucus (BLAC) in honor of African-American Music Appreciation month.

Several of her industry mates—both old and new—showed face to support the reception and acknowledgement of Kim’s well-earned award. That included fellow Brooklyn native Maino, who she playfully cold-shouldered in a video that’s got fans wondering where such sudden friendly beef came from.

In the video from Monday evening (June 11), the self-crowned La Bella Mafia accepted the huge plaque of her proclamation with all her supporters in tow for photo ops and speeches. Maino stands beside her as she poses for the bevy of flashing cameras and eager fans, placing his hand on her shoulder only for it to be hastily snatched away by Kim’s hand. The “Hi Hater” rapper doesn’t allow that to stop him, though, as he returns his hand back each time with a smirk and amusingly continues to troll her. Eventually, he takes his hand down for good and whispers something to her before the clip cuts off.

Judging by other pictures from the honorable celebration, it’s evident that there’s no actual hard feelings between them, though. The Queen Bee was all smiles for the event, which she shared an inspirational speech for in light of the proclamation and her acceptance of the New York City 12th Council District Arts and Music Award as well as the Power of Influence Award.

“I’m just gonna say this: Use us,” Vibe reports of her statement. “Use us in the industry. We have a voice, and we want to represent our town, our city.”

Harlem rap star Dave East, Queensbridge-repper and Mobb Deep member Havoc, Rev. Run heiress Angela Simmons and hip-hop’s high fashion avant-garde Dapper Dan showed love to Kimmy as well.

”Whatever we can do, use us,” she reportedly continued in her speech. “I’ve done charity work for many years, and now with me coming back, I’m gonna do charity work again. And I’m just gonna say, I am so happy and proud to be from Brooklyn.”

Sending our love and a huge congratulations to you, Kimmy!
