Good News, Y’all! This Brand Just Invented A Blanket Just For Period Sex

Is this the future of liberating, shameless sex?

Let’s be real: sex can get real messy, especially if you’re on your period. THINX, the company behind the period panties, has designed a blanket to save your white sheets when you’re feeling a little frisky during that time of the month.

Being on your period can make you feel pretty awkward and the farthest thing from sexy. You’re bloated, your cramps make you want to curl into a ball, and everything is just hypersensitive. But sex can be the best remedy to relieve all those symptoms. That’s where THINX comes in.

THINX, a company that pride itself in creating innovate products to empower women and break the stigma that comes with menstruation, made a sex blanket with the same absorbent, four-layer technology you’ll find in their famous period panties. Check out this sleek, hand-quilted period sex blanket below:

According to the THINX CEO, Maria Molland Selby, this blanket was made to end the shame and open up the conversation about period sex.

“So many people are made to feel ashamed of having sex on their period… We hope that the introduction of our sex blanket drives a new kind of conversation around period sex; one that encourages people not to feel shame or shy away from the human body during their period. This is more than a blanket.”

To kick off the launch of their Period Sex Blanket, THINX hosted a pop-up museum event entitled “Come As You Are” in NYC. This pop-up weekend was filled with events such as a panel of experts debunking and breaking down the taboos that come with being on your period and having period sex.

When asked about the perks of period sex, board certified OB/GYN Dr. Angela Jones had a lot to share of the benefits of having sex during your menstrual cycle.

“Period sex is some of the most amazing sex that you can have,” Dr. Angela explains. “You save money! You don’t have to provide lubrication because the blood is there… Everything is just kind of loosey-goosey, and juicy. But, I mean, the uterus becomes engorged. Everything becomes hypersensitive… [It helps to] relieve those periods pains, migraines, and you get those endorphins… and then you’re like ready to do it again… Don’t knock it ‘till you try it. Who cares about a little mess?”

The Period Blanket is priced at $369 and can be bought exclusively on the THINX website. It even comes with a pamphlet with care instructions as well as the perks of having sex on your period and all the positions that make period sex a little easier.
