Common Shares Video About Why He And Michelle Obama Are Making Sure Black Voters Turn Out This Fall

November 6 may be the most important Election Day of our lifetime.

As we head into the midterm elections this fall, Black voters are needed now more than ever. To ensure people in the community are inspired to register and vote, Common released a special message about how he and Michelle Obama are working to get folks out to vote.

Election Day is Tuesday November 6, which is right around the corner. Before the polls open, Common wants us to know why it is imperative that we exercise our right to vote.

"Did you know that less than 60 percent of eligible African-American citizens voted in the 2016 presidential election?" Common says in the video above.

"This undermines our power as a people and I am not willing to give my vote and my power away. I am not going to allow anyone else to make decisions for my family and my future," he continues.

"So I am teaming up with Mrs. Obama and all of you to change the culture around voting."

Common and Michelle Obama are asking people to join When We All Vote's Week of Action September 22-29. People can host events in their own communities in order to register, organize & fire up voters for Election Day. Now, more than ever, we need every to make sure every African-American is eligible to make their voice heard on November 6.
