‘SNL’ Pokes Fun at Jada Pinkett Smith's Memoir Revelations During ‘Weekend Update’

Comedian Ego Nwodim portrayed the star.

“Saturday Night Live” is the latest to weigh in on Jada Pinkett Smith's recent revelations about her marriage, including the shocking news that she and her husband, Will Smith, have been separated since 2016, despite being legally married.

During the “Weekend Update” segment, Michel Che introduced Ego Nwodim, who portrayed the “Set It Off” star, and interviewed her about the confessions made in her new book, “Worthy.”

Nowodim, as Smith, apologized for appearing “a little tired,” adding, “I’ve been on the Today show 14 times in three days.”

She discussed her marriage to the Academy Award winner. “The day we got married, I knew there was going to be trouble. At our wedding, someone stood up and objected,” Nwodim began. When asked who opposed it, the actress answered, “It was me. Yeah, it was me.”

The skit continued to poke fun at the couple’s marriage and the “Red Table Talk” host’s tendency to overshare. Smith even joked, “23 years later, Will and I are still a unit. And it’s because we have learned that the secret to a successful marriage is never to go to bed happy.”

The “Woo!” actress is currently on a press run for her new book in stores. During a recent interview with Extra, the actress told Carlos Greer, “I know Will and I are talking about writing a book together.” The literary work is tentatively named “Don't Try This At Home.”
