Tru Life Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison

The verdict is in. Rapper Tru Life accepted a plea deal that will land him in prison for 10 years on second-degree murder charges stemming from a fatal stabbing two years ago.

Tru (born Robert Rosado) and his brother Marcus Rosado allegedly stabbed 20-year-old Christopher Guerrero to death during a fight outside a Murray Hill apartment building in Manhattan on June 15, 2009. Another man was also hospitalized with stab wounds.

Under the plea agreement, Tru would have to serve ten years and his brother would have to serve 12. Both were charged with second-degree murder, gang assault, and assault charges. Upon accepting the plea, the Rosado brothers would also waive their right to an appeal.

Tru, who was signed to Jay-Z’s Roc La Familia in 2005, was still under contract with the God MC at the time of the incident. He’s since been released from his contract. Fans may remember Tru Life for his appearance on the first installment of the Beef DVD series. The MC famously detailed an incident in which members of his entourage robbed associates of Mobb Deep in front of Wu-Tang Clan’s GZA and Cypress Hill’s DJ Muggs. He later got into a feud with Diplomats, and legend has it that he got into an altercation with Cam’Ron. The beef has since been squashed.
