Kelly Price Explains Why She Was at the No Limit vs. Cash Money VERZUZ Battle
Kelly Price clears up confusion on her involvement during this past weekend’s VERZUZ event at ComplexCon.
The R&B singer shared that she was there to support and assist No Limit Records artist Mia X and to deliver any requests she had for the event.
“I was her assistant tonight,” she explained, adding that she made sure the rapper stayed hydrated and comfortable backstage.
“I had towels and water and whatever she needed. She was up there sweating, getting hot, and I was like, ‘You need to drink some more water, you need to stay hydrated.’”
According to Price, the atmosphere inside the arena was electric, with “anyone who was anyone” in the crowd for the No Limit vs. Cash Money Records battle.
But when tensions began to flare toward the end, a moment that seemingly referenced Birdman’s heated comment toward rapper Turk, she knew when to make her exit.
“We got right to the end of the night, and I was like, ‘Yeah, it’s time to go.’”
While Price kept things calm behind the scenes, the veteran rapper dominated the stage.
Social media lit up with reactions praising her as the night’s undeniable highlight, with clips of her performing fan favorites like “Freak Hoe” and her unforgettable verse on Master P’s “Make ‘Em Say Uhh” flooding timelines.
Even LeBron jumped in on the celebration, calling her the MVP of the VERZUZ showdown.
A viral clip also captured Price vibing to Mia X on stage as the rapper delivered her classic bars, which is a full-circle moment between two women who’ve shared over three decades of friendship and mutual respect.
“She was the only female MC on that stage tonight,” Price said proudly. “And she did just like I knew she would — destroyed the convention center. Those men couldn’t do nothing with her.”
“She's literally one of the kindest, sweetest people I’ve ever met,” Price added. “We’ve been down with each other for like thirty years.”
