UPDATE: The midnight release of a clean version of Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly was removed. The album is currently available for pre-order on iTunes with "The Blacker The Berry" remaining as the sole download.

PREVIOUS: One of the most anticipated releases of 2015 has arrived: To Pimp a Butterfly.

Kendrick Lamar dropped his good kid, m.A.A.d city follow-up just before midnight, offering fans the opportunity to purchase a clean version of the LP a week earlier than its expected release date (March 23).

Much of the album's roll out was a surprise, in fact. K Dot dropped "i" in September, it's anthemic-feel a slight shift from the sound that his core fans knew, and he followed that with an untitled track released without warning via an appearance on the final episodes of The Colbert Report.

His third song, "The Blacker the Berry," a perfect blend of all of hip hop's roots (blues, jazz and reggae), came with a twist, too. Empire star Taraji P. Henson shared the song via Twitter in the midst of Black History Month and heated conversations about Blackness and cultural appropriation. She said it was her favorite of the collection.

The album features sixteen tracks with guest spots from Snoop Dogg, Bilal, Anna Wise, James Fauntleroy, Rapsody, Ronald Isley and George Clinton and Thundercat. is your #1 source for Black celebrity news, photos, exclusive videos and all the latest in the world of hip hop and R&B music.
