G. Dep Sentenced to 15 Years for Murder

Judge gives G. Dep minimum sentence for 1993 murder.

G. Dep, the former Bad Boy up-and-comer known for his turn-of-the-millennium hits "Special Delivery" and "Let's Get It" has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after being convicted of a 1993 killing in New York. The 19-year-old case was re-opened after Dep, born Trevell Coleman, confessed to shooting someone as a youth in December 2010.
After Dep's confession, in which he said he shot a man while trying to rob him, police matched his story with the murder of a man named John Henkel.
The 15-year sentence was the minimum allowed under New York State law, according to the Associated Press.
Dep’s attorney, Anthony Ricco, maintains that his client has no regrets for coming forward and copping to the crime.

"My hope is that Trevell never wavers from his decision," he said. "Fifteen years is a long time. Fifteen years in the penitentiary for putting yourself there is an even longer time."

In a recent interview, Diddy said he was "shocked" to learn of Dep's alleged involvement with the crime, which he described as "so out of character that it was mind-blowing."
