Michelle Obama Had the Girls Gagged at ‘The Boy Is Mine Tour’
Michelle Obama popped out in D.C. over the weekend, and she wasn’t shy about letting the world know just how much she enjoyed the Brandy and Monica-led celebration of R&B that is the "Boy is Mine Tour". The former First Lady hit Instagram with a heartfelt message after attending the tour stop, which also featured Kelly Rowland and Mya—four women whose voices shaped the soundtrack of the late ’90s and early 2000s.
Obama shared a carousel of photos with Brandy, Monica, and Kelly Rowland, plus a shot of Mya doing what she does best onstage. And she didn’t hold back on giving the ladies their flowers. “To Brandy, Monica, Kelly, Mya and the entire crew — you all did your thing last night in D.C.,” she wrote. “Such a beautiful evening of love and sisterhood… Y’all make me proud to be a Black woman in America. I will see you all soon.”
The tour itself has been a journey. Brandy had to cut her Chicago opener short after facing severe exhaustion, and Muni Long briefly stepped away because of health issues—opening the door for Mya to join for a few dates before eventually becoming a full-time member of the lineup. Even with the shifts, the tour has remained a love letter to R&B and the women who defined eras with platinum albums, chart-topping singles, and stories that still resonate.
From surprise appearances to Kehlani publicly honoring Brandy and Monica, the vibe has stayed rooted in celebration and unity.
Obama’s night out comes weeks after her candid conversation with Tracee Ellis Ross, where she doubled down on not running for president—and why she thinks America still struggles with women in leadership.
“The Boy Is Mine Tour” is still rolling, with upcoming stops in Monica’s hometown of Atlanta, plus Houston, New Orleans, and more, before closing out in Jacksonville on Dec. 14.
