Kevin Hart Says 'It’s Human' To Make Mistakes

The comedian seemingly addressed surviving past scandals.

Kevin Hart is reflecting on the poignant lessons he’s learned being in the public eye.

During a recent conversation with the Wall Street Journal’s Suzanne Vranica at Journal House during the Cannes Lions Festival Tuesday, (June 20), the Ride Along star seemingly addressed past scandals and the effects it had on his family and the subsequent recovery.

“There was a time when I doubled down on family. Why? Well, I have a lot of brands that love the idea of family. Let me show family on a global scale,” Hart said, according to Page Six.

“There was a time when I focused on marriage and the household. There was a time when I focused on the idea of the mistake and it happening and being OK with the recovery,” he continued. “Why? Because it’s human.” The comedian was seemingly referencing a reported extortion scandal stemming from 2017, involving his former friend Jonathan Todd Jackson.

At the time, Hart denied any personal involvement and later issued an apology to his wife, Eniko Parrish, for stepping out on their marriage. The couple welcomed their son, Kenzo Hart, that same year.

At the time Hart released a statement, noting, “You know, I’m not perfect. I’m not going to sit up here and say that I am or claim to be in any way shape or form. And I made a bad error in judgment and I put myself in a bad environment where only bad things can happen and they did.”

Last month, the actor was named the recipient of the “Entertainment Person of the Year” award at Cannes Lions 2023. The prestigious honor "recognizes the vital role that entertainment plays in the marketing and communications landscape.” The award “celebrates the creativity that inspires others to produce truly compelling, meaningful, and entertaining content,” according to its description.
