Look: A Kneeling Colin Kaepernick Covers the New Issue of Time Magazine

Here's why the publication is calling the 49ers' QB's stance "The Perilous Fight."

Over the past four weeks, Colin Kaepernick has sat and knelt during the national anthem as a stance against racism and police brutality against African-Americans.

With each week since late last month, more and more NFL players have followed the San Francisco 49ers' quarterback's lead, with athletes from other sports supporting Kaepernick's stance, or planning to, as well.

The burgeoning national discussion has now paved the way for a kneeling Kaepernick to be the cover subject of the newest issue of Time magazine.

The publication took to its Twitter account Thursday to unveil the 28-year-old gracing its October 3 issue cover, which is equipped with the headline, "The Perilous Fight."

Take a look.

The cover story takes a deep dive into Kaepernick's stance, while also speaking with some of his NFL peers who have also knelt or raised a fist during the national anthem in support of the Niners' QB.

Pro Football Hall of Famer and civil rights activist Jim Brown says that he personally "would not challenge our flag" as part of the story, but did previously tell NFL.com that he's with Kaepernick trying to bring awareness to these issues "100 percent."

The Time cover unveiling follows Kaepernick saying that he has received death threats over his stance and a poll in which 1,100 Americans representing demographics of the country's general population voted him as the most-disliked player in the NFL.
