Keke Palmer Says She’s ‘Almost 100% Sure’ She’s Asexual
Keke Palmer posted on Instagram on Feb. 16 saying that she’s “almost 100% sure” she is asexual.
In the post, Palmer wrote, “Absolutely nothing romantic went down, crazy right! I’m so cute! But I like no one,” and invited followers to “chit chat” in the comments.
Palmer’s note came after a Valentine’s Day spent with family and friends; she described the day in the same Instagram thread before addressing how she’s feeling about attraction. The actress has previously spoken about sexual fluidity — she first publicly described herself as sexually fluid in 2015 — and in recent years has discussed resisting labels while also being candid about evolving feelings.
Asexuality (sometimes shortened to “ace”) does not necessarily mean a person experiences no romantic attraction, and many asexual people still form committed partnerships or have sex for reasons other than sexual attraction. LGBTQ Nation notes roughly 1% of the global population identifies as asexual, according to the Asexual Visibility & Education Network.
Palmer’s admission also signaled her openness to discussion: she encouraged readers to share “the good, bad, in between” in the comments and said her own experience as part of a process rather than a definitive endpoint. As public figures continue to broaden mainstream visibility for lesser-discussed orientations, Palmer’s post joins a growing list of celebrity conversations that fuel awareness and community dialogue.
