Offset Was Being Sued for a $100K Casino Debt Days Before He Got Shot Outside a Different Casino
The timeline here is hard to ignore. On March 30, 2026, the MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit filed a lawsuit against Offset for an unpaid $100,000 credit line. One week later, on April 6, the former Migos rapper was shot outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. According to Complex, that's not a coincidence the internet let slide quietly.
The Detroit Lawsuit
According to the lawsuit reviewed by Complex, Offset opened a $100,000 credit line at MotorCity Casino in March 2024 to continue gambling. The casino later attempted to withdraw the agreed-upon funds directly from his account, but the transaction reportedly failed due to insufficient funds. The casino is now suing for breach of contract, fraud, and related claims. A spokesperson for Offset told the outlet, "We are working toward a resolution."
The suit joins a growing paper trail. Offset previously dealt with the IRS over more than $1.5 million in unpaid federal income taxes. His ex-wife Cardi B appeared to reference his financial situation last September during an X Spaces conversation, implying he was holding up their divorce proceedings until she paid his taxes and forfeited a property.
Former NFL wide receiver Dez Bryant added another layer on Tuesday when he posted on X that Offset had owed him $8,000 from a gambling bet, and that Offset had called him looking for a money play literally three hours before being shot. "I swear to god Offset reached out to me yesterday 3 hours before he got shot on a money play," Bryant wrote. Bryant said he had previously tried to collect the $8K after winning the bet but backed down when Offset's associates got tense. "I charged it to the game," he said.
Radio personality Ebro Darden also said on The Ebro Laura Rosenberg Show that Offset owes him $5,000 from a Super Bowl bet, though Ebro later apologized for bringing it up while Offset was still hospitalized, saying he "wasn't in tune with what was really going on."
The shooting itself stemmed from a separate, escalating beef with Bronx rapper Lil Tjay over an alleged $10,000 gambling debt that Tjay claims Offset never repaid. According to a Seminole Police probable cause affidavit reviewed by Complex, Tjay allegedly directed his associates to start a fight with Offset and his group in the valet area at around 7:22 p.m. on April 6. During the altercation, one of Tjay's associates fired a weapon, striking Offset with non-life-threatening injuries. Tjay was charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct and a traffic violation. No one has been charged in connection with the shooting.
Offset is recovering at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood. He has broken his silence, responding to Tjay calling him a "rat" in the comments of The Shade Room Teens with three words: "U ain't buss nun."
