Offset Responds to Lil Tjay Calling Him a Rat: 'U Ain't Buss Nun'
Offset has been in the hospital since Monday night. That did not stop him from getting on the internet.
After Lil Tjay walked out of the Broward County Jail on Tuesday calling Offset a "rat" and threatening to "smack the sh*t" out of him, Offset reportedly caught a repost of the comments on The Shade Room Teens' account and fired back in the comment section. His response, per Complex: "U ain't buss nun."
Translation: you didn't shoot anything. In three words, Offset directly disputed Tjay's claim that he had nothing to do with the shooting, while simultaneously undercutting the "rat" accusation entirely. If Tjay's people are the ones who fired the gun, calling the victim a rat for identifying the shooter is a rhetorical contradiction that the internet has been pointing out since Tjay's jail-exit interview went viral.
What Tjay Said That Prompted the Response
After posting a $500 bond on a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge, Lil Tjay walked out of Broward County Jail on Tuesday and turned the sidewalk into a press conference. Shirtless and smiling, he denied shooting Offset, called him a "rat" for allegedly identifying him to police, and threatened to "smack the sh*t out of Offset." He told reporters the last thing he saw was Offset saying to bystanders: "Yo, that n***a shot me." Tjay dismissed that as snitching. The internet immediately noted the obvious: calling someone a rat for saying you shot them is a strange denial.
What Police Say Happened
According to a probable cause affidavit, Seminole tribal police allege that at around 7:22 p.m. on April 6, Lil Tjay exited a vehicle, pointed at Offset, and directed members of his group to start a fight with Offset and his associates in the valet area of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Surveillance footage allegedly shows Tjay filming the altercation on his phone as it unfolded. During the fight, police say, one of Tjay's associates pulled a gun and fired, striking Offset. No one has been charged in connection with the shooting itself. Tjay was charged only with misdemeanor disorderly conduct and a traffic violation.
Offset, born Kiari Kendrell Cephus, 34, has been recovering at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood with non-life-threatening injuries. He was photographed by TMZ being wheeled outside for a cigarette while still in a hospital gown. His representative confirmed he was "stable and being closely monitored." Despite being still in a hospital bed, Complex reports he was well enough to catch the internet chatter and respond.
The Beef That Got Here First
The bad blood between Offset and Tjay traces back to a January 2025 Twitch stream in which Tjay accused the former Migos member of being broke and claiming he had witnessed Offset frantically asking strangers for Cash Apps at a casino after a losing streak. Tjay said he loaned Offset $10,000 to cover gambling losses and was never repaid. Offset responded by challenging Tjay to a livestreamed fight, saying "I'll fly to you." The online beef cooled but never resolved. The Seminole Hard Rock, where Monday's shooting happened, was the same type of venue where the original dispute allegedly started.
The investigation into the shooting remains open. No charges have been filed in connection with the gunshot.
