Dame Dash Clarifies Allegations That He Slapped Harvey Weinstein: 'I Always Wanted To Punish Him Publicly'

The rap mogul joins the chorus of Hollywood's elite blasting the former film exec.

In the wake of troubling allegations regarding Harvey Weinstein's predatory behavior, a handful of Hollywood's elite have come forward to denounce the film exec's actions.

And now it appears as though Dame Dash has a thought or three to share about his former business partner.

As previously reported, the unexpected revival of Dipset's sound with the fresh single "Once Upon A Time" led to the revisiting of an old rumor of Dame allegedly slapping the disgraced filmmaker. On the track, Cam’ron recounts a tale of the music exec putting hands on Weinstein during the making of his 2002 film Paid In Full. "No disrespecting the ladies, word from my team (why)/That's the reason Dame smacked Harvey Weinstein/On the set of Paid In Full, y'all gave him hell about it," Killa raps on the song.

In a new interview with TMZ, however, Dame is finally clarifying the details of the altercation that occurred. “Somebody definitely got smacked on the set of Paid In Full,” Dame said admittedly. “But, you know, I’ve never really liked the way Harvey treated my culture. I didn’t like the way he talked to people and I didn’t like the way he was treating my film.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Dame notes that he got sued over the incident. The Roc-A-Fella co-founder explained his tension with Weinstein grew out of frustration over the delaying of his film's debut. “I got sued over it but I won,” Dash said. “Harvey was someone who was trying not to put out my movie, and I had to really get aggressive with him and make sure he did right by it. And had I not fought for the movie, you would have never seen it.”

Dame also shared his thoughts on the myriad of sexual misconduct allegations about Weinstein, joining the likes of Drake and Jill Scott, who have called out the movie exec for his "creepy" behavior. “You know, I’ve owned clubs with him and a lot of the things that have been alleged, everybody knew was going on,” he said candidly. “I just always chose not to work with him. And I always wanted to punish him publicly so people would know he was weak."
