Travis Hunter Inks Landmark Rookie Deal with Jaguars: $46.6M Over Four Years

The Heisman winner received a $30.5M signing bonus upfront.

Travis Hunter is officially a Jacksonville Jaguar.

The NFL's newest dual-threat player has officially inked his rookie deal.

The Heisman winner and second overall pick signed a four-year, $46,649,114 deal with a $30,566,628 signing bonus with a fifth-year option, NFL.com reported.

Per the terms of the contract, Hunter will earn $840,000 in base salary as a rookie, with his contract rising to $2.96 million in his second season, $5.08 million in his third season, and $7.20 million in his fourth year.

With the deal, Hunter made history as the first non-quarterback to get his signing bonus entirely up front, according to his agents, Adie von Gontard and Ray Haija of Young Money APAA Sports.

To draft Hunter, the Jaguars traded four draft picks, the 5th, 36th, 126th, and a first-round selection in 2026 to the Cleveland Browns, allowing them to move up to the second pick.

According to ESPN, Hunter plans to play on both sides of the ball at Jacksonville as he did at Colorado during his Heisman Trophy campaign. During OTAs, Hunter spent the majority of his time at mandatory minicamp on offense but did attend at least one defensive practice.

At Colorado last year, Hunter caught 96 passes for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns. On defense, he had 35 tackles, 11 pass breakups, eight forced incompletions, and four interceptions while allowing just one touchdown.

Hunter is now the 30th pick from this year's draft to officially sign with their team. The Bengals' Shemar Stewart (No. 17 overall) and the Broncos' Jahdae Barron (No. 20) are still in negotiations.
