Jalen Williams Tried Alcohol for the First Time After NBA Finals Championship Win
After winning the NBA Championship against the Indiana Pacers, Oklahoma City Thunder star Jalen Williams realized the usual celebration vibes aren’t really his thing.
Williams, who has never had a sip of alcohol until recently when his team won their first NBA championship since moving to Oklahoma, revealed on Monday (June 23) on ESPN’s “Sportscenter” why he decided to partake with his teammates.
“Yesterday was my first time drinking ever, like, I’ve never had a drink up til that point,” he shared.
“And at the beginning of the season, the guys wanted me to drink. But I told them, win a championship, I’ll drink, I’ll do whatever you guys want.”
He continued and told host Christine Williamson how "disgusting" it was to indulge in drinking spirits.
“I drank a little bit, had a couple of shots, champagne,” he began telling Williamson.
“I had beer. It was all disgusting.”
However, just a day later ahead of the team’s victory parade, the 31-year-old was seen with a box of Don Julio and a bottle of champagne, sharing how he felt “good” and “loose.”
Another first for Williams, and his teammates, was learning how to pop the champagne cork during their celebration.
“None of us knew how to do it,” center Isaiah Hartenstein said, according to the Associated Press.
Apparently, Hartenstein shared that some of his teammates were looking up YouTube tutorials on how to figure it out.
