Solange Reveals Her Secret Role on 'Insecure' as Fans Demand More
Solange made a big reveal this week and had social media in a frenzy.
The “Don’t Touch My Hair” singer announced on social media that she served as co-music supervisor for Issa Rae’s hit series “Insecure.”
In response to a tweet that read, “You’ll be watching a series, and they’ll just randomly start playing the best song you’ve ever heard in your life,” the neo-soul artist replied, “waiittt dis was a dream jobbbb.”
She went on to add, “co-music supervisor szn 1 and 2 s/o melinaaa isssaa and kierr for trusting meee to shape the soundtrack for all of Issa and Molly’s complexitiess.”
To give fans a peek into the process, she even posted actual music prompts from the show. One read, “[Scene 18] – would like a song to come up with the big end-of-the-night applause for Issa. Should be bittersweet as everyone is turning to applaud her, but she is at odds with Lawrence, Daniel, and Molly.” Another detailed “The big breakup. Should use a slower, sad song going from Issa’s tears into the credit bed.”
Reflecting on the experience, the 39-year-old tweeted, “lol flashbacks of me reading these prompts and me being like… ‘can we use Tweet again’ lol. Dream job frfr.”
While fans continue to campaign for another season and champion the show’s music choices, Issa told People how fans are asking for a finale reshoot.
“People have told me to reshoot, which is crazy because they didn't like the decision that Issa makes in the end,” she told the outlet.
People have even tried to barter with Rae for more episodes.
“I get asked for season 6 a lot, even this morning [Thursday, Jan. 30]. I had to just post because I got hacked this morning. Unfortunately, I fell for whatever phishing scams and now can't get into my account. And I don't even use it. So if you see crazy tweets for me, just know it's not me [and I said], 'Somebody, please help' on my Insta Story. 'I got hacked on Twitter.' And somebody was like, 'I'll help you if you give me three more seasons of Insecure.’”
