Chris Brown Sues Warner Bros. Discovery for $500 Million Over Docuseries
Chris Brown wants Warner Bros. Discovery to pay up after the network premiered a harrowing docuseries revolving sexual abuse claims about him.
As TMZ reports, the Grammy-winning R&B singer has sued the television and film company for $500 million just months after the release of “Chris Brown: A History of Violence” on Investigation Discovery. In court documents, Brown accused the network of defamation, in addition to claiming he has “proof” that accusations made against him in the special are false.
Brown denounced the docuseries for declaring him "a serial rapist and a sexual abuser" and denied being found guilty "of any sex related crime.” The “Sensational” artist also decried a Jane Doe who was interviewed in the docuseries, who accused Brown of raping her on a yacht in Miami in 2020. Doe was previously at the center of a sexual assault case being built around Brown, which was withdrawn after evidence was publicized that she repeatedly contacted him via text and phone calls.
While Brown pointed out the lawsuit withdrawal and case dismissal due to unfounded claims in 2022, the singer expressed that he’d spent a decade repairing his image after the 2009 assault of his then-girlfriend Rihanna.
In his $500 million request, Brown claims the docuseries damaged his career, image and business opportunities. If granted, he reportedly intends to contribute a portion of the sum to victims of sexual abuse.
