Drake Brings Out Dipset, Teases New Music During Apollo Theater Debut

He also hinted at a summer tour.

Drake has a history of digging into music’s past and celebrating it, and on Saturday night (January 21), the Canadian rapper did so once again during his debut performance at Harlem’s legendary Apollo Theater.

Capping off the show, Drizzy brought out neighborhood natives The Diplomats for a performance of “I Really Mean It”, “Dipset Anthem” and “We Fly High (Ballin)”.

“These guys right here from Harlem made us dress different, talk different, walk different, rap different all the way in Canada,” he said while draped in Cam’ron’s iconic pink mink coat.

During his own set, which often included appearances by Her Loss collaborator 21 Savage, Drake performed songs from different eras of his over decade-long career, including "Marvin's Room," "Best I Ever Had," "Hold On, We're Going Home," "One Dance," and "God's Plan", among others.

The 36-year-old also teased possible new music in 2023: "I've thought about a bunch of things in life, but at this moment in time, none of those things are stopping making music for you, so I'll be here for you for a little bit at least," he said. "I hope I can strike up some more emotions for you – maybe this year, I might get bored and make another one, who knows?"

Closing out the show, Drake also hinted that he’ll be hitting the road this year in some capacity.

"Thank you for an incredible evening, I couldn't have asked for a better first show back. I'll be out and about on the road this year, so I hope to see a lot of the same faces," Drake said before closing the show "Legend," off his 2015 mixtape If You're Reading This It's Too Late.
