Ciara Shares the Advice She Gave Her Kids Before Fashion Week Debut

The proud mom shared how a simple bargain with Win and words of encouragement helped her children shine at Macy’s Herald Square.

Ciara celebrated the debut of three of her children — Future, Sienna, and Win — as they ripped the runway at Macy’s Herald Square during New York Fashion Week on Sept. 18. On the red carpet, she told PEOPLE, “Oh my gosh. I was like, ‘Get the walk together, get the eyes right. Give me the swag, give me the attitude. I need all that.’”

As exciting as the moment was for both the parents and the kids, naturally, some nerves came into play, but Mama Ci was ready for that.

“I kind of had to bargain a little, but with Win, I was like, ‘Win, you go out there and shut it down. Just tell me what you want after, and it’s yours.’” That was all the motivation he needed.

“I’m a little bit of a stage mom, I can’t help it,” she confessed. “But when your babies are out there, you want them to shine in their full brightness. Because I see what they do at home, I’m like, ‘Do it on stage too, okay?’”

The superstar R&B singer said she didn’t sense any nervousness from her daughter, though she acknowledged it could still be there. “But they’re ready. I think it’s going to be fun.” Sitting front and center, she watched her kids model the latest back-to-school and fall looks from Nike, Levi’s, Lacoste, Abercrombie Kids, Converse, and also Ciara and Russell Wilson’s line, 3Brand.

“Russell and I are very proud of our babies. They’re going to be representing our brand, 3Brand. They’ll be kicking things off on the show… It’s just exciting to see all the beautiful kids from all over, not just New York, but all over,  coming today to shine,” she said.

After the kids took their first strut, the parents joined them on stage for one final walk to close the show.
