Porsha Williams Talks Upgrading Her Skincare Routine With New Nivea Partnership and Teaching Her Daughter Self-Pride

"When it comes to my body and the skin, I don't play," said the reality star.

One thing about Porsha Williams is that she knows how to give her skin the A-list treatment it deserves. Before she gained notoriety on primetime, as a kid, her mom, Dianne Williams, taught her hygiene essentials and demonstrated how to show "pride in who you are." Since then, Porsha has used that wisdom as the foundation for who she has become as a woman and a powerhouse.

"When it comes to my body and the skin on my body, I don't play," she explained.

Now, as a household name reared from "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" to becoming a mom, Porsha has experienced firsthand what living the soft life in the limelight is all about while looking great and feeling her best at all times.

Known always to have a catchy clap back on the tip of her lips, today she is letting her skin do the talking as a brand ambassador for Nivea. Their latest line of new skin-firming products is enriched with Q10 for nourishing and toning skin.

Not only is Porsha a fan of the collection, but her hubby, Simon Guobadia, is too. "I'm married, and he loves to rub smooth skin," she shared. "[But] he dont want to write his name in my skin," she quipped.

The reality TV star sat down with Bet.com to discuss how Nivea has helped upgrade her skin care routine.

Bet.com: As a Black woman, how has this product helped remedy your skincare woes? Does it really soothe melanated skin?

Porsha Williams: As you know, representation does matter. And I love that they're releasing it right before winter because that's when our skin starts to dry out. And as you know, we can become a little bit ashy.

Dryness has always been an issue when it comes to my arms and my legs because my skin dries up, [and] it tends to get scaly. The number one thing I've noticed with my skin transformation is [that] the scaling has gone away. It's much smoother to the touch [and] the skin on my chest glows. And it's all because of the argan oil that penetrates deeply into your skin, which, again, is something that we need.

Bet.com: Has anyone around you noticed a difference in your skin since using the product?

Porsha Williams: My husband talks about how well it absorbs into my skin when he puts it on my back. Some lotions [that] you put on just sit there, and it's like, 'Okay, is my skin really getting the product?' I like that [it absorbs] because when I put on lotion, I don't want lotion on my clothes. I want it on my skin.

Bet.com: Growing up, what was your perception of sunscreen?

Porsha Williams: We only used it if we were going to the beach, going swimming, only if we were outside for a long period of time. But now, we know that everybody needs it. It does not matter if you are a melanin beauty or not; you definitely need sunscreen daily to protect your skin.

Bet.com: What are you teaching your baby girl, Pilar McKinley, aka PJ, about the skin she is in?

Porsha Williams: Number one is to love yourself inside [and] out. She loves her skin, the color of her skin, [and] her hair. I want her to be humble but also have self-pride.

Bet.com: Has your husband, Simon, leveled up his skincare since meeting you? Are there any tips you've shared with him to ensure his melanin stays poppin'?

Porsha Williams: When I first met him, he would really lather up his body and make sure his skin was nice and glistening. I was like, 'Babe, you're feeling good.' He'd respond, "I'm on alert because I remember you told somebody,' Bye ashy' once. He was scared for me ever to see him ashy. He said, 'I don't want you judging me.' He is very much into his skin. I have gone on Amazon and bought him his own Nivea so he does not have to take mine.

Bet.com: Your face card never declines. How do you maintain a healthy glow?

Porsha Williams: When it comes to my face, I use Meaningful Beauty, and I am very consistent. It does not matter what time I get home, [it] doesn't matter how tired I am [because] I'm going to take my makeup off, and I'm going to go through my whole seven-piece kit and do my skincare [routine]. It's benefited me. It really has. [If] you take care of it [your skin],  it will come to life and naturally glow.
