Celebs Celebrate the Dakota Access Pipeline Decision

Chance the Rapper, Solange and more of the woke crew weigh in on #NoDAPL.

In a major victory for the Standing Rock Sioux, on Sunday, December 4, the Army Corps of Engineers denied a permit for construction on a key element of the Dakota Access Pipeline. For months, members of dozens of Native American nations have come together to peacefully protest the pipeline, which was to be routed through sacred Sioux lands, possibly endangering their water supply. Protesters, internally known as Water Protectors, managed to stick it out through severe police brutality and freezing conditions.

While the decision doesn’t mean the pipeline is dead — Trump supports the project’s completion, because of course he does — this is still a huge step forward. After the announcement, celebrities like Solange, Chance the Rapper and Pharrell took to social media to voice their support for the protesters.
