Tyler, The Creator Hints At Hiatus During Philippines Tour Stop

Speaking candidly to his fans, the Odd Future founder admitted he’s at a point in his life where he’s ready to pause and recharge.

After a whirlwind year of back-to-back albums and a globe-spanning Chromakopia World Tour, Tyler, The Creator is pressing pause, telling fans they may not see him again for a long time, if ever.

While performing in the Philippines on Sunday (Sept. 21), the rapper told the crowd he was “excited to go home and think about if I’ll ever really tour again.”

He went on to reflect on his career with a rare moment of honesty, admitting to the crowd that he’s ready to step back after years of nonstop music and touring.

“I can’t lie to y’all, I’m at that part of my life where, man, I’ve done enough,” he said.

“Let me go take a very, very, very long break. Y’all treated me very well, y’all treated Paris, Texas, very well. So, thank y’all.”

And speaking of breaks, Tyler hasn’t only been thinking about slowing down from music, he’s also been vocal about what else he’d like to see come to a stop, which are podcasts.

Back in 2024, during an interview with Billboard, he didn’t hold back, saying, “If I was president, the first thing I would do is take podcast mics away from ni**as. Expound on that f*cking thought, b*tch,” BET.com reported.

In a follow-up with The Cut this year, he doubled down, explaining, “I think we give a lot of people who aren’t smart and just want attention platforms to be loud and incorrect, and other stupid people follow them.”

He added that society needs “more electricians, drummers, painters, teachers,” rather than “everybody with a mic.” Still, he did shout out a few podcasts he respects, like Deante Kyle’s show and “The Cutting Room Floor.”

Frustrated by the way niche sites have also shifted into catch-all media platforms, the 34-year-old vented, “Everyone wanted to be everything. You used to go to a website that was specifically about this type of music and now they’re posting about shoes.”

The Odd Future founder will be able to take a small break until November, before having to perform at this Camp Flog Gnaw concert, which will feature the likes of T-Pain, Thundercat, Doechii, Clipse, Larry June, A$AP Rocky, GloRilla, Earl Sweatshirt, 2 Chainz, and a few others.

He will then head overseas to Latin America for performances at Lollapalooza Argentina, Lollapalooza Chile, and Lollapalooza Brazil before performing at Estéreo Picnic festival in Colombia. He also has a few solo tour dates in Costa Rica, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.
