Beyoncé And Jay-Z's Black History Month Tribute To Meghan Markle Has The Internet Losing It

"We bow down to one of our Melanated Monas..."

2019’s Black History Month got off to a rocky start in the past few weeks, but leave it to Hollywood royalty to come to its rescue.

Music’s matrimony of majesty, the Carters (a.k.a. Beyoncé and Jay-Z), accepted their Brit Award for Best International Group by tipping their crowns to another figure of Black nobility: the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle. Bey posted her gratitude to the Brits for the recognition on Instagram with a reenactment of the Carters’ iconic Louvre Palace Mona Lisa moment from their “APESHIT” video. But instead of the Mona Lisa backdropped behind them, as seen in the original “APESHIT” visual, an elegantly regal portrait of Markle graces the wall. “Thank you to the Brits for the award for Best International Group,” Bey wrote in one of the acknowledging Instagram posts. “I won this award back in 2002 with my besties, Kelly and Michelle. How lucky am I to have been in a group with my other best friend, the GOAT Hova. 🙌🏾 In honor of Black History Month, we bow down to one of our Melanated Monas. Congrats on your pregnancy! We wish you so much joy.”

Like nothing else, it warms the hearts of fans everywhere to see Black queens saluting Black queens in such a dignified manner—especially at the expense of those that fans believe are less fond of the British royal family princess.
