Former New York City Mayor Calls #BlackLivesMatter 'Inherently Racist' and 'Anti-American'

Here's what Rudy Giuliani had to say.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani today (July 10) offered his two cents on the #BlackLivesMatter movement, commiting to his position to continue to offer his agitating perspective.

In addition to sharing his thoughts on the Dallas shooting earlier this weekend, Giuliani today (July 10) said that the BLM movement is both "inherently racist" and 'anti-American," while also accusing the movement's mission of supporting the murder of police officers.

“When you say 'black lives matter,' that's inherently racist,” the Republican former mayor said, during an apperance on CBS' Face The Nation. "Black lives matter, white lives matter, Asian lives matter, Hispanic lives matter. That’s anti-American and it’s racist."

“If you want to deal with this on the Black side, you've got to teach your children to be respectful to the police, and you've got to teach your children that the real danger to them is not the police,” Giuliani added.

The ex-mayor continued to cite the statistic, one that is not supported by any research, saying "the real danger to them, 99 out of 100 times, is other Black kids who are going to kill them. That's the way they're gonna die."

When asked what he would do if he "were a Black father," he said he would warn his son "to be very careful of those kids in the neighborhood and don't get involved with them because, son, there's a 99% chance they're going to kill you, not the police."

As reported by the NY Daily News, in 2014, homicide data found that Black victims are killed by other Black people 90% of the time, and the rate of white-on-white murder is 82%, according to the statistic.

Additionally, Giuliani feels as though police reforms are not needed, save for a "zero tolerance" policy toward "disrespect."
