Miguel Sets the Record Straight on Rumors Surrounding His Marriage and New Baby

After months of online chatter, the singer spoke candidly about his relationship timeline and why he’s proud of where life has led him.

Miguel has officially put the speculation to rest. After social media whispers questioned the overlap between his divorce from Nazanin Mandi and the birth of his child, the singer stepped forward to clear the air once and for all.

Last month, the R&B crooner shared a video celebrating his son’s first birthday. His child, named Angelito, was conceived with former Vogue China editor-in-chief, Margaret Zhang.

During his sit-down with The Breakfast Club, the “Adorn” singer addressed the online speculation head-on, making it clear that the timelines being tossed around don’t match reality.

“I have to say this. The f*cked-up part is that people start doing the wrong math,” he said.

“The one thing I did not do is start a relationship while I was married and then have a baby.”

The singer went on to explain that his relationship began well after his split from Mandi, emphasizing that there was no overlap between the two chapters of his life.

“I got divorced and I’m going to say this straight up – everybody out there talking sh*t like I was still in a marriage and then I had a baby or was having an affair all this time, that’s not true,” he continued.

“I met my son’s mom after we were divorced. I met her at an event that we weren’t even supposed to go to. That was well after we were done.”

When co-host Loren Lorosa asked how he felt about those “upset” that he welcomed a baby with his current partner, Zhang, and not his ex-wife, Miguel didn’t seem rattled.

Instead, he acknowledged that public scrutiny is nothing new.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve had people feel the need to weigh in on my personal life,” he admitted, calling the chatter “a good reminder” of what comes with fame.

Still, the “Coffee” singer said he revealed his son “with so much intention,” emphasizing that the moment was deeply personal, not performative.

He spoke with pride about fatherhood and the woman by his side, sharing that Zhang is “an incredible partner” and that their son “couldn’t have a better mother.”

“Life doesn’t always happen the way we imagine it,” he reflected, “but I’m proud of where I am and who I get to share it with.”
