#BLM or Nah: Did Richard Sherman Really Just Say All Lives Matter?

Here's what the NFL cornerback thinks about the controversial statement.

When it comes to Black Lives Matter and All Lives Matter, you're either with one or the other.

And Richard Sherman is riding with the latter. When asked about his opinions of the Black Lives Matter movement by, the Seattle Seahaws cornerback proceeded to explain how all human beings' lives matter and thus why he sides with All Lives Matter instead.

"I stand by what I said that All Lives Matter and that we are human beings," Sherman said. "And speaking to police, I want African-Americans and everybody else treated decently. I want them treated like human beings. And I also want the police treated like human beings. I don’t want police officers just getting knocked off in the street who haven’t done anything wrong. Those are innocent lives."

As part of the same interview, Sherman explained why it's hard for him to stand by #BLM.

"It’s hard to formulate an opinion and generalize because they have several different messages," Sherman said about the movement. "Some of them are peaceful and understandable and some of them are very radical and hard to support. Any time you see people who are saying, ‘Black Lives Matter,’ and then saying it’s time to kill police, then it is difficult to stand behind that logic."

He added, "They are generalizing police just like they are asking police not to generalize us. It is very hypocritical. So, in that respect, I find it difficult to fully support that movement."

Hmm...somebody better throw a flag on Sherman for committing this personal foul. Come on, man.

As the interview continued, Sherman said he stands by NBA superstars LeBron JamesCarmelo AnthonyDwyane Wade and Chris Paul calling on all athletes to spark change at the ESPYS two weeks ago.

The three-time Pro Bowler added that if he had to choose NFL players — in addition to himself — to step up and spark that change, he'd select Seahawks teammates Doug Baldwin and Michael Bennett and Arizona Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu because they're all not afraid to speak their minds.
